Football, Peru

Today I attended a Peruvian football match between Cuzco (the home team) and Lima. The quality of football was well above what I was expecting, some great footwork and some nicely taken goals were on offer.

The supporters for both teams were very passionate, the riot police earned their money protecting the opposition players and the referees from projectiles (riot shield tunnel) but weren't quick enough to stop a bunch of away supporters from breaking through the gates at half-time and running down into the changing rooms.

Cuzco just held on to win the match 2-1, and I made it out of the stadium and back into town without getting stabbed or being involved in any riots, always a good end to the day.
